Over the past couple of years, I've been trying and developing
new ideas to make shoes -- specifically shoe laces -- more durable. After
experimenting with different lace materials and even lace protectors, I've come
to realize that the best design for skateboard shoes would be one without laces
at all. Of course, slip-on styles with no laces have been around for years, but
I need something a lot more substantial wrapped around my feet when I ride. And
of course, companies have been making shoes for bicycling and mountain biking
without laces for years, but good luck skateboarding in bike shoes! Besides a
couple of low-profile designs by Converse® and Vans®, nobody makes a skateboard shoe with hook
& loop (Velcro®) fasteners. So I
decided to make my own.
But I'm not in the shoe
business...
... at least not from a manufacturing standpoint. But with a
little ingenuity, and the usual trial-and-error, I have finally developed a
hook & loop, lace replacement system that will make any pair of
athletic shoes bomb-proof. Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you: Straight
Jackets!TM No more broken shoelaces.

What you'll need for
installation: |
- 20 nickel-plated rectangular rings*
- 72" hook & loop strip (Colors: black, brown,
white)*
- Photo-illustrated instructions (online
only)

- Your existing pair of shoes, with laces removed
- 2 pairs of pliers, preferably needle-nose
- 1 pair scissors
|
*Enough for 1 pair of high tops with some extra pieces left
over, or 1 pair of low tops with quite a few extra pieces left over.

product that is hand-manufactured in the good ol' U. S. of A. and one that will
